What a MindSpan result is — and isn't
MindSpan assessments are designed for educational insight and self-reflection. Please read this page before you rely on any result.
Not a clinical assessment
No MindSpan test is a medical, psychological or psychiatric assessment. A result is not a diagnosis of any condition, ability or disorder. It does not replace an assessment by a licensed professional.
If you have concerns about your memory, attention, learning or mental health, talk to a qualified professional.
How to read a score
- Scores are estimates. A cognitive score compares how many questions you answered correctly with a reference model. The model is not yet based on a large, representative group of test-takers. Your score can differ from the score on a professionally administered test.
- One sitting is one sample. Sleep, stress, distractions, your device and the time limit all affect a result. A retake can give a different score.
- Personality results are self-report. They reflect how you described yourself on the day you took the test. They are not a measure of your worth, and no profile is better than another.
- Values results are ranked against your own answers, not against other people.
Don't use results for important decisions
Do not use a MindSpan result to make, or to support, decisions about:
- medical or mental-health treatment;
- school or university placement, or special education needs;
- hiring, promotion or any employment matter;
- legal matters.
Test names
MindSpan tests are independently developed. Names such as “WAIS Style”, “Stanford–Binet Style” and “Raven’s Style” describe the kind of tasks the test contains. They are not official, licensed or equivalent versions of those tests. MindSpan is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the owners of those names. All trademarks belong to their owners.
If a result upsets you
A number on a screen says very little about who you are. If a result leaves you feeling distressed, take a break and talk to someone you trust. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line in your country.
